At Mountainside, infants, toddlers and preschoolers experience a rich, nurturing and joyful learning environment where free play and time spent outdoors in nature are prioritised. We believe children learn best when they feel safe, connected and free to explore their world at their own pace.

As Dr James Comer says, “No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship.” This belief sits at the heart of our practice.

Mountainside is proudly locally owned and family operated. Our owners are a visible and active part of daily life at the centre, from teaching and caring for tamariki, to administration, cooking, washing, maintenance, gardening, lawn mowing and painting. It truly is a hands-on, family-led environment.

Liz, our Centre Director and Manager, is deeply passionate about the early years and the importance of children having the time and space to play, explore and follow their curiosity. She believes these early experiences build essential life skills that provide a strong foundation for later learning and schooling.

The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming and have created and amazing environment for little ones. They always have new activities and games ready for them; every day brings a new learning opportunity or experience. Strongly recommend to anyone looking for daycare.
